In 2018, Lade Akande established “The Yoga Counselor LLC” and has since been a trailblazer in bringing wellness practices to schools, hospitals and non-profit settings. Lade holds an MS in School Counseling from Butler University where she also played basketball and is a certified 500hr Trauma-informed Yoga Teacher, training hundreds of students from across the world.
With over 13 years of experience in education, Lade has worked in secondary, post-secondary and non-profit settings, sharing her expertise in mindfulness and stress-reduction practices, college and career counseling, mentorship, and professional development for leaders who are hoping to implement wellness practices at their respective organizations.
Alongside Butler University College of Education, Lade has created a research-based yoga & mindfulness curriculum and has trained multiple school leaders in how to implement similar programs. She currently serves as the first Director of Wellness at an independent high school in Indiana where she spearheads efforts in enhancing wellness programming for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
